Text-to-image generators have gained tremendous popularity over the past years. This specific application of artificial intelligence allows users to create digital images based on textual input. It seems that any desired image is just a few clicks away, with little to no technological knowledge about the inner workings needed.  

But what happens underneath the hood? How does a text-to-image AI exactly work? This step-by-step explainer will lift (some) of the curtains of image generation and shed light inside the black box of AI.

Foam pays tribute to the legacy of British photographer 

. Bringing together a selection of his most iconic works, the exhibition celebrates Parr’s unmistakable way of seeing, witty societal observations and enduring fascination with the role of photography in everyday life. 

Join us on Thursday 2 April from 17.00 to 21.00 hrs for the opening of the exhibition. This marks Parr’s first solo museum exhibition in the Netherlands in more than twenty years.

Lou Stoppard: Sighs and Whispers

Foam is undertaking a sustainability renovation to prepare its historic building on the Keizersgracht for the future. From 2 March to 8 October 2026, the museum will carry out a phased renovation to improve the building’s sustainability standards. Throughout the works, the museum will stay open and will showcase a limited number of exhibitions.

Visitors may notice signs of work during their visit, such as noise or temporary changes to visitor routes. We aim to keep any inconvenience to a minimum. Foam remains open almost the entire time, with a temporary closure from 27 August to 16 September 2026. We reopen on 17 September with a festive opening of three new exhibitions.
