Your Foam

Join us on an inspiring walking route through the centre of Amsterdam and discover photography in a new way.

<a href="/talent/your-foam-20-21">Your Foam 20/21</a>, a group of nine enthusiastic students, has organised a walking route through the centre of Amsterdam to discover photography in an original and immersive way. During the route, you are given several challenges and tips as you learn more about the artists and works currently exhibited at Foam.
In addition, the Your Foam team will support you with info, clues and - most importantly - a drink and a bite. Finally, we will end our tour through the city at the exhibition in Foam.&nbsp;
PRACTICAL INFO Duration: 2 hours Price: &euro;12,50 (&euro;10 for Foam Members, &euro;7,50 for students) The price includes a bite and drink, a goodie bag and the publication Your Foam represents: Gen 21. ABOUT YOUR FOAM 20/21 The <a href="/talent/your-foam-20-21">Your Foam 20/21</a> team consists of nine MBO students from the following studies: Media Manager (Media College Amsterdam), Event Producer (ROC van Amsterdam) and Media and Editing (ROC van Amsterdam). As an interdisciplinary team, they carry out challenges for various Foam departments, such as including a young audience at their own events, portraying subcultures among young people in a publication and creating workshops that are relevant to MBO students. Your Foam is supported by Fonds 21, VSB Fonds and Lerak Foundation. &nbsp; &nbsp;
Foam is supported by the VriendenLoterij, Foam Members, De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, the VandenEnde Foundation and the City of Amsterdam.
In 2021 Foam receives additional support from the Mondriaan Fund and Kickstart Cultuurfonds.

Are you a MBO student who wants to improve Foam's programming? On 10 December, Foam organises a meeting and introduction for students who want to join the project Your Foam.

Please note: this programme is in Dutch.&nbsp;
The project Your Foam offers MBO students the chance to organise events and workshops and come up with new communication strategies to improve Foam's programming.
JOIN THE INTRODUCTION EVENING Join us on 10 December to learn more about Your Foam. By registering for this evening, you will be enlisted in a time slot between 18.00 and 20.00 hrs. You will meet Foam employees, explore the building, artists, and meet the project leaders.&nbsp;At the end of the route, you can sign up for Your Foam by leaving your details. In the week of 14 December, you will then hear whether you are on the project team which will start in January 2021. It is only possible to subscribe to the project team on this particular evening.
PROJECT TEAM In this project, Foam works together with a number of courses from the ROC van Amsterdam (Media &amp; Editing, Junior Event Producer), Mediacollege (Media designer) and ROC Top (Educational Assistant and Hospitality &amp; Events). Students who do not follow these programmes can also register. The project will run from January to June-August and you will be working 8 hours a week paid. The regular meeting of the team is on Thursday from approximately 16.00 - 20.00 hrs.

ABOUT YOUR FOAM <a href="/about/collaborative-projects/your-foam">Your Foam</a> invests in a lasting relationship with MBO students. Over the past two years, a citizenship programme has been developed in which students organised there own event <a href="/museum/programme/where-is-my-nature">Where is my nature?</a> in Foam.
A project team consisting of 10 MBO students will now start in 2021. By implementing challenges, the team will work on issues related to programming for young people that Foam encounters. In the project, Foam uses the expertise of MBO students to achieve a better connection with MBO. The students use Foam's expertise to discover and improve their own skills within the professional field.

It is time to CLAIM the museum! The students of Your Foam believe that the museum belongs to all of us. Come join us as we take over Foam with a series of engaging activities.

Join the Your Foam team 21/22 on 14 April for a journey through the museum. We have prepared several workshops, an interesting talk and a tour by the Foam Forward crew. In addition, we will serve snacks and end the night with a silent disco.

The tour guides of Foam Forward all participated in a long term educational project at Foam. The students have a big heart for Foam and feel it is important to take visitors through the exhibition, in their own refreshing way.

As part of the project <a href="/about/collaborative-projects/your-foam">Your Foam</a>, a group of MBO students will organise their own event at Foam, based on the exhibition On Earth &ndash; Imaging, Technology and the Natural World.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is sold out.&nbsp;
Please note: this event will be held in Dutch Since 28 January, ten students from different studies in Amsterdam are working on the following assignment:&nbsp;Create, organise and coordinate an event for young adults in which you consider the themes of Foam&rsquo;s exhibition On Earth.
What you can expect: On 3 July, you will be able to experience the exhibition On Earth in a unique way.&nbsp;In a small group with fellow visitors, you will be guided in a route through different spots in the museum, such as the garden, the exhibition rooms and the Foam Caf&eacute;. During your visit, the students uphold the current regulations of the RIVM. The maximum duration of the visit is 1,5 hours.&nbsp;
"As the new voice of today and tomorrow we, ten MBO students, have challenged ourselves to organise this event at Foam. With the current corona crisis and the complicated situation in the world, we are stepping into the new normal and our relation with nature and technology. Walk with us over our barefoot path, discuss the themes with our TalkTopics, write a Message to Earth and watch our exhibition Where is my nature? &nbsp;in our habitat. With this event, we will tickle your senses and crack your brain."

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION Adorned &ndash; The Fashionable Show presents intriguing and challenging fashion related photography projects created by a new generation of visual artists. They all work with fashion, but most of them are not straightforward fashion photographers. For them, fashion and style are primarily tools to construct or question identities, to empower people and to play with cultures, gender, race and ages.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION Brassa&iuml; (1899- 1984), a French photographer of Hungarian descent, is considered a key figure of 20th-century photography. He created countless iconic images of 1930s Parisian life. He was famous for capturing the grittier aspects of the city, but also documented high society, including the ballet, opera, and intellectuals - among them his friends and contemporaries like Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dal&iacute; and Henri Matisse. The exhibition at Foam traces his career with over 170 vintage prints, plus a selection of drawings, a sculpture and documentary material.

On Sunday 5 June Kriterion and Foam present a film programme in Kriterion around the work Calais - From Jungle to City by photographer Henk Wildschut.

Close to the port city of Calais in France, in the heart of democratic Europe, a parallel world has existed for ten years. Refugees from Africa and the Middle East are waiting here for their chance to cross the Channel to Great Britain. The Jungle, as it is nicknamed, has been slowly taking over the shape of a city over the last few months. A city that, by political decisions, has started to be dismantled from 29 February 2016. In <a href="/museum/programme/henk-wildschut" target="_blank">Calais - From Jungle to City</a>&nbsp;photographic and cinematic images alternate, giving an insight into how the structure of the camp is rapidly changing. Henk Wildschut&rsquo;s way of working has a documentary character, but it is also poetic and suggestive. His photos provide a counterweight to the emotional photos of refugees familiar to us from newspapers and television. The documentaries Bantar Gebang (2000) by Jeroen de Rijke and Willem de Rooij,&nbsp;Calais: The Last Border (2003) by Marc Isaacs and 4:57 Minutes Back Home (2011) by Henk Wildschut will be shown. Henk Wildschut will start with an introduction. With your Foam entrance ticket you will receive a &euro;3 discount. Sunday 5 June is the last day of the exhibition.
