Foam Talent 2026 x MPB

July 9, 2026

Foam and MPB join forces to spotlight the technical possibilities of photography through a series of activations around the Foam Talent programme. Over the coming months, Foam and MPB will present exclusive content with the Foam Talents through a special series of Studio Visits, in which they reflect on their artistic practice and the technical side of their work. Through conversations with the image-makers themselves, discover the tools, choices and approaches that shape their photography.

About the collaboration

The first studio visit is available to read below, with new articles published monthly from July onwards.

Alongside this series, Foam and MPB are creating an exclusive guide highlighting five distinct cameras that represent the pinnacle of different photographic eras and styles, and the artists who defined their careers using these tools. The guide will be released in August 2026 and will be available to download here.

Explore the first studio visit below and return throughout the summer for new articles and the release of the exclusive Foam x MPB guide. To be the first to hear when new content is published and the guide becomes available, sign up for the Foam newsletter.

studio visit

“For me, the camera is primarily a tool for producing images that can later be reconstructed, rather than an end in itself. Much of my practice begins with archival material that I reinterpret through photography before transforming it into installations and sculptural forms.

This process relies on precision and consistency, which is why I often work with Fujifilm’s GFX medium format system. Its image quality allows every stage of reconstruction to remain faithful to the original material. When photographing archival reconstructions in the studio, I also use an Ebony 4×5 large format camera. The unique rendering of large format film and its measured pace suit the careful process of recreating historical imagery, giving the photographs a physical presence that resonates with the themes of memory and the archive.

These systems help me produce images that blur the boundary between contemporary photographs and historical records.” — Yiding Chen
