Foam Forward Tour Lebohang Kganye

Are you between 17 and 26 years old and do you have a passion for photography and storytelling? Sign up for the Foam Forward programme led by photographer and film maker Fidelio 

 and learn to develop your own artistic vision. During this programme, you will be guided in creating your own visual language by producing a small magazine. The zine focuses on telling a story and developing your own photographic vision.

The Foam Forward programme consists of a series of 6 workshops. The workshop will start on Thursday 2 June. After that, it will take place weekly on Thursdays from 19:00 to 21:00 hrs. 

Included in the workshop is a visit to creative space MAQAM and Galerie Mercatorplein, free access to Foam and the production costs of your magazine.

Participants of the Foam Forward programme can sign up for this first part of a masterclass on the use of light in photography.

This event is exclusively for Foam Forward participants.
Light is essential when taking a photo. In this masterclass by Foam you will learn how to photograph with artificial and constant light. After a brief introduction on the museum and the use of light in photography, participants will work in the Foam Studios under professional guidance.
ABOUT FOAM FORWARD Foam Forward is a talent development programme that focuses on young up-and-coming talent. In collaboration with Studio West (Theater de Meervaart) and Talentlab (Bijlmer Parktheater), Foam has developed photography courses, hosted by young photographers associated with Foam. Participants of these photography courses are given the opportunity to participate in a continuous programme, organised by Foam, XYZ Studios, HALAL and sQuare, to stimulate their enthusiasm and photographic qualities.&nbsp;
Foam Forward is a partnership between Bijlmer Parktheater, HALAL, Studio West/De Meervaart, sQuare, XYZ Studio and Foam.
Foam is supported by the BankGiro Loterij, De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, Foam Members, City of Amsterdam, Olympus and the VandenEnde Foundation.

Foam Forward:Lights on! #1

Participants of the Foam Forward programme will meet HALAL admist the works of up-and-coming artists at Foam Next Door.

This event is exclusively for Foam Forward participants
HALAL is one of the partners involved in Foam Forward and operates as an international production company and photography agency. After a short guided tour along the works of Foam Talents, we are meeting up with Gijs Determeijer, partner and Head of New Business at HALAL. Gijs will give insights on how new talents are spotted, where they get their inspiration from and what HALAL actually does. As they represent many young photographers, one of HALAL's photographers will join in to answer all your burning questions on the process of becoming a professional photographer.

MBO in Foam

Lebohang Kganye focuses on exploring her family's personal and collective ‘micro histories’. Her work is embedded in the wider history of South Africa from before, during, and in the aftermath of apartheid and colonialism. The exhibition shows the artist's complex visual vocabulary and the diversity of media and approaches she engages with — from photographic montages to spatial installation, and from film animation to patchwork.

Lebohang Kganye – Haufi nyana? I’ve come to take you home

“Fashion” is a concept that represents what is trending at the moment. Paul Kooiker’s fashion photography, on the other hand, is characterised by its timelessness. The artist portrays the biggest fashion brands and today’s most famous faces, but transports them to a world of their own. Disconnected from time and place, his surreal images feel like film stills with stories we can only guess.
