Book Club: our favourite books from emerging and established talents in the photography world

Lemons Gazing at Mount Etna is an interactive publication designed as a portable exhibition that consists of loose sheets in various sizes, bundled together in a see-through cover. The colourful posters showcase Dutch photographer Lonneke Van der Palen’s large collection of images that reflect on material culture and its beauty. Images of a plastic chair, a pack of cigarettes, and other ‘found’ objects act as meditations on consumerism.

Each time you browse through the publication, you can rearrange the order, forming new connections, and in doing so, uncover a different story. Tucked among the pages, there’s even a game waiting to be discovered and played, allowing the viewer to further explore the pages and images. This fun publication boosts the viewer’s creativity and makes you the curator of your own exhibition. Which images will you combine on your walls?
