Foam nodigt je uit voor de presentatie van de nieuwste publicatie van Middle East Archive: 

ء, een fotografieboek met werk van fotografen uit het Midden-Oosten, Noord-Afrika en daarbuiten.

Het boek richt zich op het alledaagse leven van vrouwen in de regio en toont hen als individuen. Verschillende fotografische benaderingen en perspectieven komen samen in een boek dat geen eenduidig verhaal wil vertellen, maar juist ruimte laat voor verschillende narratieven. 

اء belicht de diversiteit en soms tegenstrijdige realiteiten van vrouwenlevens, waarbij elk werk zijn eigen stem behoudt en tegelijk bijdraagt aan een collectief portret.

اء belicht de rol van vrouwen in het gezinsleven, sociale structuren en het culturele geheugen, en laat zien hoe deze rollen voortdurend veranderen afhankelijk van tijd en plaats. Het boek pretendeert niet volledig te zijn, maar creëert ruimte voor zichtbaarheid, gelaagdheid en uiteenlopende vormen van representatie.

Foam en Middle East Archive zetten hun samenwerking later dit jaar voort met presentaties op het Mercatorplein en in de creatieve ruimte MAQAM in Amsterdam West.

Kids workshop: Stories of Martin Parr in sign language

Maak je klaar voor een kinderworkshop vol plezier, creativiteit en kleur in de meivakantie!

In deze workshop ontdekken kinderen de speelse en kleurrijke wereld van fotograaf Martin Parr. Met een camera in de hand gaan ze op avontuur in en rondom het museum, op zoek naar grappige, kleurrijke en bijzondere momenten in de straten van Amsterdam. Zo leren ze kijken naar de wereld door de lens van Martin Parr.

Na het fotograferen worden alle foto’s samengebracht in één grote groepscollage. Met behulp van AI wordt deze collage omgezet in een unieke kleurplaat, die de kinderen tot leven brengen met kleur en hun eigen fantasie.

Amsterdam 750: Mounir Raji Captures the People Who Shape the City

Duik tijdens de meivakantie in de kleurrijke en humoristische wereld van Martin Parr. Deze workshop is ontwikkeld voor dove en slechthorende kinderen.

De workshop start met een rondleiding door de tentoonstelling 

 van Martin Parr. Onder begeleiding van een gebarentaalvaardige museumdocent ontdekken de kinderen de fotografie van Parr. Na de rondleiding verzamelen de kinderen zich in de leeshoek van de tentoonstelling, waar zij in gebarentaal hun eigen observaties delen en met elkaar in gesprek gaan over de fotografie.

Foam Talent x Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation: acquisition of Aaryan Sinha's project

Foam neemt duurzaamheidsmaatregelen om het historische gebouw klaar te maken voor de toekomst. Van 2 maart tot en met 8 oktober 2026 worden verschillende werkzaamheden uitgevoerd om de duurzaamheids-standaarden te verbeteren. Tijdens deze periode blijft het museum gedeeltelijk geopend voor publiek.

Bezoekers kunnen in deze periode mogelijk hinder ondervinden van de werkzaamheden, zoals tijdelijke geluidsoverlast of aangepaste bezoekersroutes. Wij streven ernaar eventuele overlast tot een minimum te beperken. Foam blijft vrijwel de gehele periode geopend, met een tijdelijke sluiting van 27 augustus tot en met 16 september 2026. Op 17 september heropent het museum met drie nieuwe tentoonstellingen.
