Yorgos Lanthimos: Photographs

Foam thrilled to announce an upcoming photography exhibition by the award-winning filmmaker and artist Yorgos Lanthimos. Renowned as one of the most distinctive auteurs in contemporary cinema for his films including Bugonia, Kinds of Kindness, Poor Things, The Favourite and The Lobster, this show presents another dimension of his artistic practice bringing together four bodies of photographic work created over the past six years, including a new series made in his native Greece.

About the exhibition

Photography has long been part of Lanthimos’ artistic practice, and this major museum exhibition brings together four bodies of nearly 180 still photographs made over the past six years, offering new perspectives on this unique visionary. The exhibition will include three photographic series born from the spaces of Lanthimos’ cinema — made on the fringes of film locations in New Orleans, Atlanta and Henley-on-Thames, and in the recreated cities built as sets on soundstages in Budapest. The fourth body of work is an ongoing series of personal photographs made in his native Greece.
