Freedom Lunch and Interactive Tour in Foam or MAQAM

On May 5, Foam organises a freedom lunch at two different locations: in our museum and in MAQAM, a creative space in Amsterdam West.

Depending on your choice of location, our museum teachers will give you an interactive tour through the exhibition Staging Resistance by Jonathas de Andrade or Double Portrait by Cemre Yesil. During the tour, you are challenged to look closely at the work and form your own opinion about the work. To make it an interactive experience, the museum teacher will ask questions and provide you with information. In this way, you’ll discover the story of the photographer, the subject and the context of the exhibition together.

The tour is followed by a delicious dinner soup, where the freedom toast is recited and visitors are challenged to delve deeper into the topics of the exhibition and the concept of freedom itself. Afterwards, all participants can send a wish for freedom by post.

Join us and expand your world on the day that annually reminds us of freedom for every human being.

Location Foam

If you choose to visit the freedom lunch at Foam, you will get a tour through the exhibition Staging Resistance by Jonathas de Andrade.

Andrade’s work is visually attractive yet highly critical. It creates a space for communities who are less visible in the socio-economic landscape, and less heard in the contemporary social debate. De Andrade is able to playfully draw attention to major themes such as social and economic inequality and unbalanced power relations. Issues that are deeply rooted in his native Brazil, but are also at play in the world at large.

Afterwards, you will get a free entrance ticket to visit MAQAM.
