Li

Yushi Li is a Chinese artist based in London and works predominantly in the field of photography. By referencing works from the (Western) canon of art history, Li analyses the way in which desire and eroticism are depicted in paintings. In her images, she tries to undermine the traditional and (art)historically dominant male gaze.

Li recently achieved a MA in Photography and, in 2022, was doing a PhD in Arts & Humanities at the Royal College of Art. She was selected in 2018 as one of the artists for the Bloomberg New Contemporaries. In 2019, she was nominated as one of the 100 RPS Hundred Heroines, a British charity foundation that engages in promoting female photographers.
