The 16th edition of the Foam Talent Call is now open for submissions and will run until 18 June 2023.
Foam is proud to announce the 16th biennial Foam Talent Call: a search for exceptionally talented photographers between 18 and 40 years, from all across the world. The public call will be open from 9 May to 18 June 2023. Being selected as a Foam Talent puts artists in the spotlight of the international photography industry. The award offers a number of career-building opportunities, including publication in Foam Magazine's biennial Talent Issue, participation in programmes and events, a presentation on Foam’s digital platform, a travelling exhibition premiering at Foam and the potential to be added to the prestigious Art Collection Deutsche Börse.

Renewed Foam Talent programme
Since 2007 the biennial Foam Talent Call has been the core step in Foam’s ongoing commitment to scout, present and support new generations of talented image-makers worldwide. The Foam Talent Call, and the Foam Magazine Talent Issue resulting from it, are Foam’s own look at the ever-growing photographic community.
In 2021, Foam started working on a two-year talent programme in order to improve the quality of the programme by putting more time and energy into the offer and the guidance of the talents. In a mentorship programme Foam focuses extensively on the development of the participants' artistic practice: they get to know each other in the first stage and learn from each other's practices, they work towards the exhibition, and they are linked to international photography professionals they would otherwise not easily come in contact with. With this online mentorship programme, Foam aims to give all artists an equal opportunity and treatment in the talent programme, regardless of where they come from.
Jumpstarting careers
Foam Talent aims to showcase the crème de la crème of the contemporary photography world, jumpstarting careers of emerging artists worldwide. The Foam judges are curious to see new work from all around the world, looking for image-makers who are in the early stage of their careers and have not yet an established reputation but are developing work with a distinct approach or style. Foams Talent programme is developed as a starting point in the artist’s career, rather than an arrival moment. Over the years, the Talent ‘stamp’ has built an ever-growing reputation amongst professionals and proved to be a real career kick-starter. Former talents are Philip Montgomery, Sofia Borges, Olgaç Bozalp, Yushi Li, Marvel Harris, Kata Geibl and many more. The next Talent Issue of Foam Magazine will be published at the beginning of 2024.
Foam Talent Call will take place from 9 May – 18 June 2023. The winners of the talent call will be announced in September 2023.
