Studio Visit: Blommers and Schumm

Foam neemt duurzaamheidsmaatregelen om het historische gebouw klaar te maken voor de toekomst. Van 2 maart tot en met 8 oktober 2026 worden verschillende werkzaamheden uitgevoerd om de duurzaamheids-standaarden te verbeteren. Tijdens deze periode blijft het museum gedeeltelijk geopend voor publiek.

Bezoekers kunnen in deze periode mogelijk hinder ondervinden van de werkzaamheden, zoals tijdelijke geluidsoverlast of aangepaste bezoekersroutes. Wij streven ernaar eventuele overlast tot een minimum te beperken. Foam blijft vrijwel de gehele periode geopend, met een tijdelijke sluiting van 27 augustus tot en met 17 september 2026. Op donderdagavond 17 september, heropent het museum met drie nieuwe tentoonstellingen.

Hiền Hoàng - Garden of Entanglement

The West Desert, located on the western shore of the Great Salt Lake in Utah (USA), is the ancestral home of the indigenous Goshute people. Though officially public lands, managed by the Bureau of Land Management, this area is largely used for various privatised or military purposes, ranging from mining operations, testing grounds for weapons and improvised gun ranges.  

, Jaclyn Wright visited these cluttered sites, full of discarded targets and shattered clay pigeons. The bullet-holed remains, which she collected, photographed and filmed, are pieced together into performative installations, that reflect on the colonisation of ancient lands by bureaucratic systems.  

By inserting herself into the scene, wearing a skintight bodysuit made out of orange clay pigeons, Wright comments on the hyper-masculine culture of land dominance and cowboy fantasies. The synthetic orange colour becomes symbolic: used to enhance visibility, it signifies the strong opposition and rejection of its natural environment.

The West Desert is located on the western side of the Great Salt Lake [UT, United States]. Historically, this area has been documented through photography and land surveys, supporting the violent exploitation of the landscape.

Nearly one-third of the West Desert's 7.7 million acres are used as biological and chemical weapons testing grounds. The remaining areas of the West Desert are open to various uses, including improvised gun ranges.

Stansbury Island, the second largest island in the Great Salt Lake, echoes with gunfire and is littered with bullet holes, clay pigeons and improvised targets. The Bureau of Land Management refers to this detritus as "trigger trash".

Ontwikkelingen in beeldherkenningssystemen leiden tot steeds meer geautomatiseerde vormen van bewaking en persoonsidentificatie, maar hoe betrouwbaar zijn deze nieuwe systemen? Clément Lambelet zoekt naar de mazen in dit snel ontwikkelende ‘algoritmische ecosysteem’. Het middelpunt van de serie 

 is een variatie op een gravure van de Bijbelse figuren Adam en Eva uit 1504 gemaakt door de Duitse Renaissance-kunstenaar Albrecht Dürer. Dürer was ervan overtuigd dat de ideale verhoudingen van het menselijk lichaam met mathematische formules konden worden benaderd. Voor zijn interpretatie gebruikte Lambelet een bodyscanner, zoals ook gebruikt wordt op vliegvelden. Met zijn werk bevraagt Lambelet het tot cijfers reduceren van het menselijk lichaam door aan te tonen dat algoritmes functioneel bevooroordeeld kunnen zijn.
