Foam Talk | Collecting and presenting post-photography
Curators, artists and educators will discuss ideas on collecting and presenting photography in light of current developments of the medium.

The talk is presented as part of the exhibition Reflected... Works from the Foam Collection, on show at Atelier Néerlandais.

Throughout its history, photography has been inextricably bound up with technological inventions. Today's advancements are prompting a debate about what the medium is – or can become – as well as how it transforms our experience of the world. With the latest developments in 3D rendering, photogrammetry and CGI, photography no longer functions solely at the level of representation, but has also become a building block for new realities, transforming the use of the medium.

PROGRAMME | Friday 9 November, 10.00 - 11.15 hrs.

  • Spoken Column by Mirjam Kooiman (curator Foam)
  • Panel Discussion: Thibault Brunet (visual artist), Milo Keller (Head of Photography, ECAL), Marco de Mutiis (digital curator Fotomuseum Winterhur), moderated by Mirjam Kooiman
  • Artist Talk by Dominic Hawgood (visual artist)

Foam has actively collected photography since 2007, totaling over 550 artworks to date. The bold, contemporary collection focuses on the possibilities of photography and promotes work by young, promising artists working with photography. Film, sculpture and photography-led installations are also well represented in the collection, reflecting Foam's ambitious exhibition programme.

Admission to Foam Talk is free, but due to limited capacity, it is essential to rsvp. We look forward to welcoming you to our Foam Talk at Atelier Néerlandais.
