The Foam Talent exhibition will take place in London for the third time, presenting 20 artists, all of whom have been selected for their exciting and creative approaches to the medium.
The Foam Talent exhibition acts as a platform for introducing these emerging artists to the photography world. Selected through our annual Talent Call – the largest to date, receiving 1790 submissions – the featured artists represent a new generation of inspiring image makers and provide a view into the current concerns of photography.
This year presents a diverse selection of historical and contemporary notions being investigated through photography. From examining the male and colonial gaze to commenting on the use of online imagery that feeds a collective of fear of terrorism, they demonstrate how historical material becomes increasingly significant. In this year’s selection we discover how duration contributes to a number of long term projects, where meaning becomes progressively important over time.
Our talents introduce us to a wide range of media and digital aesthetics and their application in unique and unexpected ways. Here, artists often exceed our expectations through presentation and installation.
The Talent Issue of Foam Magazine serves as an exhibition catalogue and provides more in-depth texts around the featured artists' work.
In recent years the Foam Talent exhibition has travelled internationally to cities such as Paris, Brussels, New York and London. This year, the work of the selected photographers tours again, beginning in Amsterdam, travelling to New York, London and Frankfurt.
