Daisuke Yokota X Tomoko Mukaiyama
Japanese photographer Daisuke Yokota and Tomoko Mukaiyama, the Japanese renowned pianist/performer based in Amsterdam will have their first joint performance In a Landscape on the occasion of <a href="/museum/programme/daisuke-yokota">Matter</a>, Yokota&rsquo;s solo exhibition at Foam.

As an opening event in the first weekend of Matter, the performance In a Landscape takes place in the exhibition room where Tomoko will be playing piano as a part of the installation. Daisuke will create brand new video work for the performance, which makes the collaboration an artistic fusion of music and the photographic medium. The collaboration will be a premiere and only performed on one single night. Due to the size of the piano and the installation, a limited number of tickets (30) is available for the performance.

DAISUKE YOKOTA
Born in 1983, Saitama, Yokota majored in photography at Nippon Photography Institute in Tokyo. As the winner of the first Outset | Unseen Exhibition Fund at Unseen Photo Fair 2013, Yokota presented a solo exhibition at Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam in 2014. In the same year, his photography book VERTIGO was nominated for the Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards. In 2015, he performed at Shashin: Photography from Japan (New York), and participated in In the Wake: Japanese Photographers Respond to 3/11 (Museum of Fine Arts, Boston), Another Language (Rencontres d’Arles) and Trans-Tokyo / Trans-Photo, Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival in China. Yokota's work is included in public collections of Foam, Boston Museum, SFMOMA. In 2016 he received the Foam Paul Huf Award from an international jury.

TOMOKO MUKAIYAMA
Tomoko Mukaiyama is a Dutch-Japanese pianist, performer and visual artist based in Amsterdam. She studied piano in Tokyo, Indiana (US) and Amsterdam, after which she made her concert debut in 1990. A year later she won the prestigious Dutch Gaudeamus competition. As a pianist, Tomoko is praised for her vivid interpretations of historical as well as modern compositions. Many prestigious orchestras and ensembles throughout the world have engaged her, including the Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt, the London Sinfonietta, the Ensemble Intercontemporain and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Her latest performances are La Mode (National Theater in Taichung, 2016), HOME (Saitama Triennle, Japan, 2016) and Jiří Kylián’s Tar and Feathers (Opera Garnier, Paris, 2016).
