Book launch Kennedy Funeral Train
On Friday 22 June, photographer Rein Jelle Terpstra presents his new book, Robert F. Kennedy Funeral Train - The People’s View, at Foam Editions, Foam's in-house gallery.

This event is full and bookings are now closed.

In Robert F. Kennedy Funeral Train - The People’s View, Rein Jelle reflects on the slow train journey of the RFK funeral train, which was 50 years ago on 8 June 2018. Up to one million Americans stood along the railway, paying their respects as the train slowly made its way from New York City to Washington, D.C.

Terpstra reconstructs this important day in American history by using vernacular photographs, film stills, and the personal recollections of eyewitnesses. The book comes in custom made hard slipcase and includes 10 never before published photos of Paul Fusco, Magnum photographer, who was on the train photographing the people alongside the tracks.

The book, with essays by David Levi Strauss, Taco Hidde Bakker and Rein Jelle Terpstra, will be presented during a festive event in the gallery. That evening, journalist and historian Raymond van den Boogaard will talk about the project and the book.

Foam Editions is supported with products of Philips Smart All-in-One monitors.
