Welcome regulations at Foam

Soon you will be visiting Foam, the Photography Museum in Amsterdam. To ensure a pleasant experience for you, other visitors, and our colleagues, we kindly ask you to adhere to the following regulations. We look forward to seeing you and hope you enjoy Foam!

    Rules and regulations

    • During your visit, our museum teachers or colleagues will accompany you. Due to limited space, each museum teacher can only accompany a maximum of 15 students, along with one or more of your teachers or escorts.

    • The primary responsibility for the students during the visit lies with the teachers or supervisors from your school.

    • If you have any questions, our museum teachers will be happy to help.

    • In case of an emergency, please follow the instructions of our museum teachers or colleagues. We have several staff members who are trained in emergency response (BHV) and will guide you professionally.

    • The museum teacher will take you to the cloakroom where you can safely leave your belongings such as bags, coats, and cell phones.

    • At the end of the visit, the museum teacher will bring you back to this area and escort you to the exit.

    • To ensure a pleasant experience for all museum visitors, please speak in a quiet tone and move quietly through the building.

    • The photographic works on display are often fragile, so we kindly ask you to keep a distance of at least 1 meter from the works. To prevent possible damage, please refrain from using pens or pencils when pointing out the works.

    • Photography is permitted in the museum. However, when taking pictures of vintage works, please refrain from using the flash as indicated in the museum.

    • During the interactive tour, we kindly request that you do not take pictures so that everyone can fully engage with the programme and listen to each other's findings.

    • For the photography workshop in our studios, all students will be provided with a camera to use for the assignments.

    • The workshop results will be shared with you via WeTransfer.

    • Foam respects privacy rules and will not distribute the students' results in the museum or online without your written permission before or after the workshops.

    • To avoid accidental damage to the artworks, we kindly ask that you refrain from bringing food and drinks into the museum. Additionally, we request that you do not consume sweets, such as chewing gum, during your visit.

    • You are more than welcome to enjoy food and drinks in the Foam Café. If you plan to visit the café as a group, we recommend making a reservation in advance due to limited seating capacity. Reservations can be made by calling 020-5516505.

    • The Foam Café is open daily from 10.00 to 18.00 hrs, and on Thursdays and Fridays until 21.00 hrs.
