Workshop inspired by Gordon Parks
Get inspired by the work of American photographer Gordon Parks during this hands-on workshop.

In his photographs Parks documented important and underrepresented subjects such as poverty, injustice and racism, but he also produced work for commerical magazines like Vogue and Life. In addition to being a photographer he was also a writer, poet, composer, film director and above all a storyteller.

The workshop starts with an interactive tour through the exhibition I Am You. Selected Works 1942-1978. By conversing with each other you will find inspiration in the subjects and choices of the artist. After the tour you apply what you've observed to your own photography by creating an image that supports a story, article, poem, prose or song that inspires you. Please bring this with you to the workshop.

Ultimately you will select the image that best matches the text. The workshop will end with presenting your results and text to the group and evaluating all the produced work.

The workshop is available in Dutch and English. The English version will be held on 24 June and the Dutch version on 1 July and 26 August. Please make sure you choose the right date when signing up.

There are a limited amount of spots available, so be sure to sign up in time. Tickets are only valid for reserved dates. Unfortunately it is not possible to change dates or cancel without charge after your purchase has been made.

Foam provides Olympus OM-D cameras for this workshop. Of course, you are free to use your own camera if you prefer. In that case, remember to bring a fully charged battery, an empty SD card and a transfer cable. The use of your own materials is at your own risk.

Foam is supported by the BankGiro Loterij, De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, Delta Lloyd, City of Amsterdam, Olympus and the VandenEnde Foundation.
