Verena Blok
Love Shit

Foam presents the first museum solo exhibition of Verena Blok. The exhibition Love Shit delves into the complexities of womanhood and reproductive justice through a deeply personal yet politically charged lens.

Join us on Thursday 5 March, from 17.00 until 21.00 hrs,
for the opening of Love Shit, in the presence of the artist. At 17.30 hrs, journalist and writer Milou Deelen will deliver the opening speech for Love Shit.

On the same evening, the exhibition War is Personal by Julia Kochetova will also open.

About the exhibition

Emerging from the artist’s dual experience of her work at a Dutch abortion clinic and her own pregnancy, the project weaves together portrait photographs, close-ups, abstract imagery, scenes of children at play, and fragments of diaries, notes and observations.

Love Shit  moves between tenderness and unease in Blok’s emotionally ambivalent exploration of maternal identity, freedom of choice, and bodily autonomy; issues that carry increasing urgency as women’s reproductive rights come under growing pressure worldwide.
