ADE: Universal Law of the Matrix

Together with ADE, Foam presents a special performance and installation by artist Maya Rochat (CH, 1985). Under the title Universal Law of the Matrix, the artist is developing a site-specific installation that celebrates the fluidity of nature and its ever-changing states.

Challenging the traditional notion of photography, Rochat experiments with different chemical processes, textures and layering of images. In a performance during the festival days of ADE, the installation will come alive through sound and light to create an immersive experience.

About the exhibition

Maya Rochat’s installations refuse to conform to the white space and are meant to be experienced, not just seen. In her work, she challenges the traditional notion of photography by creating ephemeral, transient installations that come alive through the use of space and light. The power of nature is one of her main inspirations; she celebrates its fluidity by playing with the chemical processes of image-making. Universal Law of the Matrix is a visual exploration of the ever-changing states of nature, inviting the viewer to embrace the unknown.
