About FonānaContemporary female artists from Saudi Arabia

Foam proudly presents the exhibition Fonāna (فنانة), meaning ‘female artist’ in Arabic. This showcase delves into the world of eight contemporary female artists from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, capturing their candid perspectives from within the nation. It offers a unique perspective on a country that, by Western standards, is often seen as conservative and of which the accessibility to outsiders is sometimes underestimated.

Tina Modotti – Artist and Activist is organized by Fundación MAPFRE in collaboration with Foam. Afterwards, it will travel to Jeu de Paume in Paris where the exhibition can be visited from 13 February until June 11th 2024. This exhibition is made possible by the generous support of the Blockbusterfonds.
