Opening + film screening Miriam Guttmann Seahorse Parents

Come and celebrate the opening of film & photography project Seahorse Parents by Miriam Guttmann. The exhibition is part of Queer & Pride Amsterdam 2023 and aims to raise trans visibility by celebrating pregnant transgender bodies.

About the event

The event will start with a special screening of the documentary and panel discussion with the artist. During the discussion, Miriam, two of the film's main subjects Ruben and Jerome, trans non-binary activist Ryan and sexual health doctor Camiel Welling, touch on their views of the project and their wishes for change within the heteronormative system. The screening has a limited number of seats and will start at 19.00 hrs.

Afterwards, you are welcome to join us for the opening of the exhibition from 20.15 until 21.00 hrs with a music playlist curated by Sunny Jansen.

About the exhibition

In Seahorse Parents, four pregnant transgender men proudly present themselves as ‘Seahorse Parents’, as the seahorse is the only species in the entire animal kingdom where the males are the baby carriers. What is a pregnant body ‘supposed’ to look like? How do these pregnant transgender men navigate a biased world? And what world do the parents hope to bring their children into?
