New Editions presentation
On Thursday 23 August, Foam Editions presents three new works during a festive event at the gallery.

The Foam Editions collection has recently been expanded with a number of new works. Maarten van Schaik, a long-time acquaintance of the gallery, has made two works from his most recent series of Anonymous Contacts available for sale through the gallery. Exclusively available via Foam Editions is also a prominent work from the current Foam 3h exhibition Studies in Geology by Stelios Kallinikou. Foam members and relations of Foam Editions will have the unique chance to find out more about these new Editions on Thursday evening, 23 August.

The evening will begin with curator Kim Knoppers telling more about the work of Stelios Kallinikou, the Cypriot photographer whose beautiful, enchanting images are deeply rooted in the landscape of Cyprus. Most of Kallinikou's photographs have an abstract quality as a result of close-up shots that are isolated from the surrounding landscape. This makes these photos flat surfaces from which every perspective disappears. Kim Knoppers will reveal what we are looking at exactly in the work Rock formation 3.

Next, Dutch photographer Maarten van Schaik will take us into his personal story about the creation of his new series. Why is he fascinated with anonymity and loneliness? Van Schaik's work shows similarities with Kallinikou's work in its use of colour and landscape as a subject, but their methods differ greatly.

The visit to the gallery is a great opportunity to admire the other new acquisitions, including a work by Thomas Albdorf and a 'new' August Sander. You can register via this page and participation is free.
