Masterclass Print Techniques
An evening on the technique and conservation of colour photographs with photograph restorer and art historian Clara von Waldthausen.

On Wednesday 13 February Von Waldthausen will talk about the different print techniques and which aging processes colour prints are subject to. With her years of experience as an expert in this field, Clara von Waldthausen will be able to give many valuable tips on preserving photos. After a short break, the lecture by Clara von Waldthausen will be followed by a workshop.

Foam Editions organises this second Masterclass as part of a series of masterclasses on collecting photography. In this series we discuss buying photography, the framing of work, the preservation of photos and the photo book as a collector's item. The masterclasses are for anyone who has experience with collecting photography and/or has participated in a previous collecting course at Foam.

ABOUT CLARA VON WALDTHAUSEN
Waldthausen, is a well-known member of the photograph conservation community in which she has been active for more than 15 years as photograph conservator, conservation educator, member of the board of the Faculty of Humanities, at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and researcher. She has lectured and published internationally on a number of important topics including the identification of coatings on 19th century paper photographs, flaking Autochrome emulsions, albumen glass plate negatives and the drying of water-soaked photograph collections in the Netherlands. Since the summer of 2017 she is the UvA Programme Director in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage.
