Sagopalm as a symbol: Dinner with papeda
Join us for a special evening of eating papeda together in the exhibition Tones of the Ecotone by Finn Maätita and Jerrold Saija. Together with the artists and curator Zippora Elders Tahalele, we will sit at the table to share stories while we eat papeda. The papeda will be made by Vanessa Wattimena. During the evening, we will also present a performance by Nel Lekatompessy from the theatre show Pangku Ibu.
About the event
Papeda, made from the center of the sago palm, forms the base of the evening. For this event, we will gather in the ecotone to eat papeda together and engage in conversations at the table about food, personal and communal experiences and ecology led by Zippora Elders Tahalele. The exhibition Tones of the Ecotone will function as a meeting place and offer several starting points to discuss. During the evening, Nel Lekatompessy will perform a part of her theatre show Pangku Ibu.
The exhibition is made possible by DLA Piper, the Van Bijlevelt Foundation and the Mondriaan Fund.
