Breath and Sway: Ode to Blommers and Schumm
Join us on Sunday 15 January for a special evening with Lunatics and Poets, who were invited to create a dance performance inspired by the work and exhibition of Blommers & Schumm.
Lunatics and Poets explore how gestures, movement, and objects shape their work. Intersecting with recurring themes in Blommers & Schumm’s work, such as desire, transformation, and the edges of fashion. Experience a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their creative process, witnessing how the ordinary can become poetic, performative, and alive.
About the event
Founded in Amsterdam by Anna Jacobs and Hanna van der Meer, the collective intertwines choreography, fashion, and visual arts to unravel the absurdity and poetry of human nature. In this choreography, performed by Will English and Ray Lemmens, longing, obsession, and fleeting beauty unfold through movement, transforming the familiar into something instinctive and surreal.
Woven together like a collage, the performance offers a fresh lens on the everyday: fashion and performance converge, subtle gestures shift perception, and hidden beauty emerges, revealing how the ordinary can quietly become extraordinary.
