Dance Performance Breath and Sway: A Tribute to Blommers and Schumm

On Thursday, 15 January, Foam presents a special evening with Lunatics and Poets, who have been invited to develop a dance performance in dialogue with the exhibition by Blommers & Schumm.

In their practice, Lunatics and Poets explore how gestures, movements and objects acquire meaning. Their approach resonates with recurring themes within the oeuvre of Blommers & Schumm, including desire, transformation and the shifting boundaries of fashion.

About the event

Founded in Amsterdam by Anna Jacobs and Hanna van der Meer, the collective intertwines choreography, fashion, and visual arts to unravel the absurdity and poetry of human nature. In this choreography, performed by Will English and Ray Lemmens, longing, obsession, and fleeting beauty unfold through movement, transforming the familiar into something instinctive and surreal.

Woven together like a collage, the performance offers a fresh lens on the everyday: fashion and performance converge, subtle gestures shift perception, and hidden beauty emerges, revealing how the ordinary can quietly become extraordinary.
