Book Presentation:
Today is not possible by Marike Schuurman
On Thursday 26 June, Foam Editions welcomes you to the presentation of the monograph Today is not possible. The book comprises a selection of photographic and film works from the last 25 years, created by the Berlin-based Dutch artist Marike Schuurman.
Join us for a festive evening as Mirjam Kooiman, Foam’s Head of Artistic Programming, sits down with the artist—whose work is part of the Foam Collection—to discuss her creative process and the making of her book.
About the pubilication
Schuurman uses photography to explore the ambiguity of human-made spaces and landscapes. Her work often begins with stories or situations she observes that deal with absurd human attempts to change or influence the world around them. For each theme, she selects a specific photographic technique, while also reflecting on the medium itself and shedding light on the processes behind its production.
The texts in the book were written by Maria Barnas, Adriaan van Dis and Sabine Maria Schmidt.
