Created by Ester Vonplon. The artwork is a black and white print displayed at 70 x 88.5 cm.

Can you see the subtle transition between the different shades of grey, and how they transform the snowy landscape into an abstract interplay of flowing organic shapes? The interplay of light and dark creates a strong sense of depth, even in black and white. The soft light and delicate focus appear to flatten the landscape into a two-dimensional composition. In her series The Stillness of Existence, Vonplon lets us see nature in an unusual way: one filled with a sense of nostalgia and melancholy. Her images of snow-covered mountainous landscapes emanate serenity, silence and solitude, inviting the viewer to contemplate life against the backdrop of majestic nature.

With her series The Stillness of Existence, Ester Vonplon was part of the Foam Talent 2011 selection. In addition to a group exhibition, the work by all talents was presented in Foam Magazine #28 Talent Issue.
