One day, during his daily online search for photographs, Peter Puklus came across a black and white image of the sculpture of a male head. This early cubist sculpture, titled Head but also known as Tête d'homme and Portrait d'homme, was made in 1913 by the Hungarian avant-garde sculptor Joseph Csaky. Just a single image remains of Head, showing only the front side. Peter Puklus reinterpreted this photograph of the bust, which bears some resemblance to Puklus himself, by modelling his self-portrait in clay and photographing the result in different settings.
