Hailun Ma
From September 2026, Hailun Ma presents her first major solo exhibition outside China, inviting visitors into a world where fashion becomes a lens for social observation. Hailun Ma is one of the most promising rising stars in China. Having grown up in the richly layered cultural landscape of Xinjiang, she was deeply immersed in the regional colours, textures and human stories. Her work blends traditional storytelling with contemporary elements such as youth culture, female identity, and the evolving aesthetics of Central Asia.
About the exhibition
The exhibition brings together recent series focused on family, youth, and daily style in Xinjiang. Moving between the staged and the spontaneous, Ma’s images reveal how people present themselves, and how culture is worn, shared, and reimagined. The exhibition allows the images to speak before they are explained.
