In this video, curator Hinde Haest takes us through the exhibition On Earth – Imaging, Technology and the Natural World and talks about the work by artist Mark Dorf who photographs man-made landscapes to create sculptures, questioning if what we call nature is truly natural.

Foam Talent 2017

In 2017, Mark Dorf was one of the twenty selected artists for Foam Talent, the annual open call for young photographic talent.

In his series Transposition, Mark Dorf presents several sculptural installations, made up of digital photographs, shot in the New York Botanical Gardens and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. On the photos, traces of photoshopping tools, such as gradients, clone stamping and blending effects, are visible.

With the series, Dorf aims to explore the dichotomies between landscape and city, digital and physical, chaos and harmony, present Western culture.
