Behind the facades of Foam lies a charming city garden, which usually remains hidden from visitors and passers-by. This weekend, you will not only find art inside, in four exhibitions that are on show and in the gallery of the museum but also outside in the garden. Seven works by renowned photographer Karl Blossfeldt will be on display. Karl Blossfeldt (b. 1865 - d. 1932, Germany) systematically collected and photographed plants. He captured these specimens with the aid of hand-made large-format cameras, pruning away branches and leaves to create sleek geometric patterns on a neutral background.

On your way to the garden, you will encounter the exhibition Changing Views – 20 Years of Art Collection Deutsche Börse with an extensive range of works from one of the most important corporate collections of contemporary photography. Also on view, the brand new exhibition Silver Lake Drive by American photographer and filmmaker Alex Prager. Finally, the mysterious work of emerging talent Lilian Kreutzberger is on show upstairs at Foam 3h.

OPEN GARDEN DAYS | 14 - 16 June
On the Amsterdam canals, between Brouwersgracht and Amstel, a selection of the most beautiful gardens will open their doors to the public. Majestic old trees, rare plants, beautiful garden houses and both classic and modern gardens can be seen in the private plots, which are rarely accessible to the public. The black-and-white photos of flowers and plants by the famous photographer Karl Blossfeldt that can be seen scattered throughout Foam's garden are part of the collection of Foam Editions, the gallery in the attic of the museum. The thistle, passion flower and heliotrope, to name but a few of the plants recorded by Blossfeldt, may also be found somewhere in a garden on your route.
