Autumn Break
No need to get bored during the autumn break: there is more than enough to do and see at Foam. Here are seven highlights from our public programmes:

WALK-IN WORKSHOP ANDRÉ KERTÉSZ
22 and 29 October 2017

Foam offers walk-in workshops inspired by André Kertész during the weekends, for all ages. The exhibition Mirroring Life highlights the exceptional creative acuity of Kertész to reconfigure reality through unusual compositions. Kertész also used mirrors in order to shoot some of his most unusual work.

Foam provides Olympus-OMD cameras for this workshop.

FOTOBAAS


With this colourful camera in their hands, kids are instantly morphed into masters of photography or ''FotoBaas.'' The FotoBaas camera is especially designed for children ages 4 through 10 to learn more about photography concepts in a fun and playful way.

CHILDREN’S WORKSHOP

During the autumn break, Foam is organising a photography workshop for children aged 8-12, inspired by the current exhibition of Chinese Foam Talent Wang Nan. The workshop starts with an interactive tour of the exhibition. Afterwards, the pupils can start creating their own portrait photos, with a professional setup. The best results will be printed and taken home.

Discover the Foam exhibitions in a small group during the free Thursday night tours. Our experienced museum educators challenge you to really look closely at the works. Afterwards, there is the option to have dinner at the Foam Café.

REMAKE FOAM FAMILY WORKSHOP | available upon request

How well do you know your family? Do you share the same view of the world or do you each have your own perspective? During the Remake Foam Family Workshop you will find out just how similar or different your standpoints actually are. By looking at how professional photographers make visual choices, you will become more aware of your own views. The result of the workshop is a creative family portrait: a remake of a work from the Foam Collection. After the workshop you can take the portait home with you and enjoy it for generations to come. This workshop is only available upon request. The price for this programme is € 165 per 12 participants.

FOAM TALENT | EXHIBITION

Foam is proud to present the work of the twenty new Foam Talents of 2017. The annual Talent Call is an international search for exceptionally talented photographers under the age of 35. The final selection functions as a cross section of an ever-evolving medium, revealing a series of growing trends and tendencies. Many artists once selected as Foam Talents are now established names in photography.

ANDRÉ KERTÉSZ - MIRRORING LIFE | EXHIBITION

André Kertész (1894-1985) is renowned for the exceptional contribution he made to the visual language of 20th-century photography. Foam presents a retrospective of his poetic oeuvre, examining his early work created in his homeland of Hungary (1912 –1925), his time in Paris (1925-1936) where he was a leading figure in avant-garde photography – through to New York, where he lived for nearly fifty years.

FOAM 3h: FOAM X RUANG MES 56 | EXHIBITION

Foam X Ruang Mes 56
 presents the work of two young Indonesian artists, Yudha Kusuma Putera (Ngadirejo, 1987) and Andri William (Jakarta, 1986). The starting point for the exhibition is the Indonesian tradition of gotong royong, which can be understood on many different levels, including ways of working together, and ways of resolving matters collectively through reciprocal help, with the active participation of members of the community.
