Artist Talk: Traces of the Familiar
On Thursday 14 April, Foam organizes an artist talk that delves into the experimental nature of the work of Jaya Pelupessy and Felix van Dam.<br />

The exhibition Traces of the Familiar, now on view in Foam 3h, presents experimental photographs that the artists took with a camera they developed themselves. During the talk, Foam visitors will have the opportunity to get to know more about the work of Pelupessy and Van Dam in an evening of lectures by the artists and guest speakers who will place the work within a larger context.

The experimentation and craftsmanship in the work of Jaya Pelupessy and Felix van Dam will be highlighted from different angles. Foam curator Kim Knoppers will start the evening with an explanation of the concept of the exhibition Traces of the Familiar. Saskia Asser, photo historian and conservator at Huis Marseille will speak about the artistic practice of Pelupessy and Van Dam in relation to photographic experiments of the 19th century. Pelupessy and Van Dam will explain themselves the technique of their camera, which combines silkscreen prints with photography. Subsequently artists Gábor Ősz and Jaap Scheeren will talk about their own experiments with the medium of photography.

Everyone is welcome for drinks in the café after the event.
