The winner of the Foam Paul Huf Award 2017 will be announced on 16 March, via a press release.

The Foam Paul Huf Award is being organised for the eleventh time and lists quite impressive history of former winners. In 2016 the jury chose Daisuke Yokota (Japan) as the tenth winner of the prize, in recognition of his complex, sophisticated practice. On the evening of the announcement of the winner of 2017, Yokota’s exhibition Matter will be officially opened by Lucy Conticello (chair of the Foam Paul Huf Award 2017 and member of the jury in 2016).

Winners from previous years are:
2016 - Daisuke Yokota (1983, Japan)
2015 - Momo Okabe (1981, Japan)
2014 - Daniel Gordon (1980, United States)
2013 - Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs (1979, Switzerland)

To produce an internationally representative selection Foam approached around twenty nominators in various parts of the world. These nominators, specialists and experts in the field of photography, were each asked to select a number of talented photographers under the age of 35 in their own region. The Foam Paul Huf Award can be presented for any type of photography: from documentary or applied photography, to journalistic or independent work. The winner’s work must exhibit a clear visual language and distinguish itself in both form and content.

The Foam Paul Huf Award came about as a result of the special relationship Foam had with Dutch photographer Paul Huf (1924-2002). Paul Huf was known for his innovative photographic technique and was personally involved in the establishment of Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam in 2001.

The exhibition of the winner of 2017 will be on show in the fall of 2017. The exhibition Daisuke Yokota - Matter, winner of the Foam Paul Huf Award 2016 will be officially opened on Thursday 16 March (from 5.30pm onwards) and will be on show until 4 June 2017.
