These tours are given by youngsters from London, who have prepared their own tours and content through an intensive training programme. The Teen Tours take place during the Foam Talent exhibition in London.
The programme focuses on young Londoners, who work on different skills through the training program. The young people are recruited through schools, community and youth organisations in the locality of Beaconsfield Gallery Vauxhall. They are taught in research, presentation skills, through guided visits of curators and engagement with the artists. They choose at least one work to focus on during the tour to the public, to talk about in an interactive way.
Teen Tours is a successful concept developed by The Photographers' Gallery, adapted to a different location. The mentoring programme is adapted to the exhibition at Beaconsfield Gallery Vauxhall, in partnership with Foam and supervised by Beaconsfield.
