Yasmine Chatila was born in Cairo in 1974. She lives and works in New York. Yasmine Chatila graduated with a Master's in photography from Colombia University School of the Arts in New York in 2002. Her work has been exhibited at numerous galleries in the US and Europe, and her fi lms have been shown at fi lm festivals around the world, including the Locarno Festival and Kunst Film Biennale in Cologne. The Centre Pompidou in Paris featured several of her fi lms in 2009. For Stolen Moments Yasmine Chatila observed and photographed All images © Yasmine Chatila private moments in New York. She later deconstructed the images to render the buildings and individuals unrecognizable by re-framing the windows with new facades, lending the series an archetypical and dreamy character.
