Issue #30 / Micro
This spring issue zooms in on new small universes that
appear when bringing commonplace subjects into close focus. As well
as embracing the notion of Micro visually, the theme also explores
the mindset of appreciating the smaller phenomena within our
surroundings and habits. But zooming into something also means
closing off the rest of the world…
Works by well-known names such as Boris Mikhailov and Rineke
Dijkstra are presented alongside images by young Dutch photographer
Joris Jansen. We are also proud to present a project by Stephen
Gill that can be seen as the next chapter of the Hackney epos, as
well as a more historically oriented portfolio from the Japanese
artist Masao Mochizuki. A selection from the intriguing images that
Harold Strak created with his self-constructed cameras, work by the
American photographer Christian Patterson and a fascinating project
by Corinne May Botz complete the portfolio selection in this spring
issue.
