Goals
You will get to know Foam's education
department as well as the educational possibilities offered by new
media.
You will learn an easy way to link an audio file to images.
As a group, you will discuss ways to use new media in your own
teaching.
Workshop
After an introduction to the museum and its
education programmes and teaching methods, you will view and
discuss a number of exhibition images in-depth for half an hour.
With the museum educator, you will look through the eyes of a
student and as well as those of a teacher. Conscious viewing and
asking questions are key.
In the education area, you will make your own
interpretation of a chosen photo together with the other
participants. You will record this on an iPod, and then make a
podcast using the Garageband software program. We will listen and
discuss the podcasts together. You will also receive tips for using
this method in your own teaching. There will be opportunity for
discussion and questions throughout the session.
Please note: during this workshop the emphasis
will not be on the technical or practical aspects of photography
such as editing or loading of images.
