Telling stories with Foam
'Telling stories with Foam' is a museum programme for all those
learning Dutch as a second language, from literacy groups to
university-educated students. You'll get plenty of opportunity to
speak during Foam's lessons and practise your speaking skills.
You'll view portraits, tell a story and even make a photo of your
own.
For
Participants of integration courses, students of Dutch as
a second language, literacy students, students of 'Taal en
Ouderbetrokkenheid' (Language and parental involvement at school),
empowerment training participants.
Language level: literacy groups and A1 to B2.
Goal
Become acquainted with Foam.
Gain a greater awareness in viewing photography.
Develop Dutch-language speaking, listening and writing skills,
increase vocabulary.
Create and tell stories with and about photography.
Empowerment: develop personal insight and self-confidence,
stimulate cultural participation.
Description
Telling stories with Foam consists of three lessons and
one concluding assignment.
Lesson 1: preparatory lesson presented by the
language teacher (with use of the lesson materials).
Lesson 2: workshop on location led by the museum
educator.
Lesson 3: the same museum educator leads a museum
visit and the festive final presentation of the workshop
results.
Concluding assignment: for optimum outcomes, it
is best to attend three lessons. If your group does not have enough
hours available, you could also choose to take just two lessons.
The preparation lesson is very important and should always be
given.
Extra
The student will receive a 'Bewijsformulier Gesprekken' for the
Integration programme segment Burgerschap, domein
Onderwijs (Cruciale Praktijksituatie 9), deelname aan
een cursus (Cruciale Handeling 3).

Stad en Taal
'Telling stories with Foam' is part of 'Stad en Taal', a city council initiative
involving five Amsterdam museums. These museums offer easily
accessible programmes which stimulate language learning and
cultural participation.
The publication of Cultuurnetwerk Nederland describes the income
and the experiences of Amsterdam's Stad en Taal project.
